The UP government seems to have trained its eyes on encashing on the state's popularity among filmmakers in the country , and has given a go ahead to the development of two film cities in the state. One of them will be developed by actor Ravi Kishan, who gets 300 acres of land for the project in Unnao. The other film city will be developed on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway.READ: Ravi Kishan shoots for Today's Coverage in Lucknow Navneet Sehgal, principal secretary , Department of Information and Public Relation for the UP government, confirmed the development, saying, âWe received two proposals for development of film city  one from actor Ravi Kishan and another from a Mumbai-based company . We are working on it and will provide 300 acres land to Ravi Kishan and 400 acres to the Mumbai firm for two film cities in UP."
Adds Dinesh Kumar Sehgal, joint secretary , Film Bandhu, âDue to the government's new film policy , the perks it offers for filmmaking in the state, many filmmakers have started coming to shoot here. I think, the film cities will not just aid them in producing films set in UP , but will also generate employment in the state. The majority of technicians working in Bollywood are from UP , even if two films get their final shape in UP , they will get employment in their own land. With increased inflow of film units, there will be a rise in the state's revenue."
The two film cities will provide filmmakers facilities for post production work, apart from training academies for TV , film and radio artists. âEverything required for filmmaking will be provided under one roof at the film city ,â says Ravi Kishan, adding, âYou go inside, finish the film, and come out. The space allotted to us is massive, so it will have all the amenities for making good cinema. There will also be hotels where actors can stay.â The actor is in town today to shoot for a film. âI will meet the CM to discuss the project further," he says.
There is already a film city in Noida, one which seems to have not catered particularly to the needs of filmmakers.âYes, we do have a film city in Noida, but since the film policy has become active now, I am sure the proposed film cities are going to build a distinct and vibrant film culture in UP, like never before," avers Dinesh Kumar.
